How do you go about making a forum? I noticed that almost all of them look very much alike, save minor details such as colors, etc. I know the mySQL database hosues the users and I have the authentication script, but.. how? Is there some sort of template?

php. go find a package to download. you could write your own forum package but that takes work and time and knowledge of php.

If you're going the php route, you'll have to find a host that supports mySQL databases. Most charge for these although I have seen some free hosts that will give you one or two databases.
