Network Card problems

so my network card randomly stops working, tried reinstalling drivers, bla bla bla, got new card, bla bla bla no cards work from linksys pci to @home usb, nothing.. so i format and install xp again.. still no go... i say fuck the computer and ive been using my laptop for a while now.. but now i want my desktop back and i can get xp installed but once again the network card doesnt work, doesnt work in linux either.. or freebsd.. any suggestions on where to start?

i have tried multiple network cards, oh and they all work in different computers sounds like there might be a hw conflict to me..

i have.. soundblaster x-gamer live
nvidia gf2 mx
quantam hd (jacked from my old comp kuz i thought that was the problem, guess not)
biostar motherboard (not sure which one ill hafta check later)
athlon tbird 1.2ghz
256mb crucial ram
linksys lne100tx 5.1

I have 4 or 5 of the Linksys LNE100TX. They all work fine in all my computers.

Look in the power management settings for the device and see if it's set to let the computer shut it off if idle.

You may also want to check your motherboard manual to see if the slot you're plugging the NIC into is sharing an IRQ or busmaster with another device.

Try moving the NIC to another slot, or temporarily swap it out with a card that is currently working (like the soundcard)... This should verify the resource conflict issue if it starts working.

I used to have a Realtek NIC that would always put itself on the same IRQ as the video card, which is always a problem. The only other time I had problems with my card was when I got a virus that disables your network. Those are the only things I can think of. :(
