Windows XP and Disappearing CD-ROM Drives

Randomly, my CD Drives will disappear under XP.

I've read somewhere that this has something to do with uninstalling CD Burning software like Easy CD Creator. The suggested fix off the MS Support page was to regedit and find this registry branch: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM \CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Then remove the UpperFilters and LowerFilters entries.

Well, I looked, and there were no entries. Rebooted 3 times, and poof, CD Drives were back.

Thanks. That sort of fixes my problem. The drives will disappear every now and then, I run that and then reboot and they are back. But then they disappear again later on. WTFS?
