Alright my girlfriend has a Toshiba Satellite 1800-S253. Basically it just ran out of the warranty like 2 months ago. Sometimes it takes like 5-7 power ups before the computer boots up. It will power on but nothing happens, then eventually the hard drive light will light up and it boots. Using the computer is fine UNTIL you move it. If you move it, it just locks up. No mouse, no keyboard, nothing. Can't soft reboot, screen just stays frozen how it was. Have to power down. Then sometimes you gotta power it up a few times again.
I convinced them to fix it, and they replaced the system board, ram, hard drive, invertor card, cpu, and a few other misc parts.
We just got it back, and it does the EXACT same thing out of the box. I just called back and I have to talk to their Depot Escalation Team tommorrow and see what's up.
Anyone seen shit like this before in Toshiba laptops?
Thanks
Sounds like a connection/wiring issue. Like when you move the system you break the powerflow circuit somewhere inside the system, or inside the power cable itself. Have you tried just using a new power cord/adapter?

Toshiba is taking it back, but I tried using the computer JUST on Battery, still happened. I also tried to use it with the battery removed and just on AC, still happened. The screen is fine and it still stays powered on, just is totally frozen, hopefully they will fix it this time :)

Great. I hope you have better luck this time.
Are you sure this problem isn't environmental? Not that you're an idiot, but you're not using it on top of a microwave, in front of unshielded stereo speakers, or under a nuclear reactor... right?
Have you tried taking it out of the house and using it elsewhere?
If Toshiba really replaced ALL those parts you listed, and didn't see this issue in their lab, you have to wonder...
Just brainstorming.

I had it at my workplace (static free lab even), my house, and my girlfriends house, Toshbia will fix this or die :)
