computer problem... *plz help*

recently, on my other computer, it has been blacking out of no where... the screen will go black but the fans and shit and lights on the case will still be running... and the reset/power buttons on the case wont work... so i'd have to turn off the surge protector. wait 5 mins and turn it back on. but last night it blacked out... and now when i turn on the surge protector, the fans will come on, but it wont boot at all... its just a black screen, everytime. my dad says its a harddrive failure... b/c the harddrive light or whatever wont come on at all... and you cant hear it.

anybody else think its harddrive failure? hmmm... any input is greatly appreciated...

sounds possible, it could also be a processor problem, id need to see it myself and listen to it and stroke it and play with it and oh wait.

Sounds logical, could it be that a cable just came undone?

Sounds more like video or CPU to me. Maybe RAM...

Actually, RAM would make more sense given the symptoms (random blackouts, non-responsive to power button).
