Last.FM works pretty well for me, I don't think I've ever had to pay for anything but I might have gotten a free account because of my 360 or something I really don't know. I use it no my phone as well.
 
grooveshark radio always picks shitty music that is nothing like the first song i picked
 
i made an account before it was updated to the 360 and never had to pay for last.fm

the app on android is free as well. it will also scribe any music you play on your phone.
 
no you dont have to pay for last.fm unless you want the premium radio stations and some other shit. its only 3 bucks a month anyways and worth it if you use it a lot.

grooveshark is free, but i agree that their recommendations aren't that great. last.fm does a good job of that.
