Skanky Motels...

Does anyone else NOT care to stay in these? I take a yearly trip to south Florida and often stay in the nastiest place I can find for cheap. The usual group of friends who go with me do the same. This year however, we had 2 new people decide not to come along because we weren't staying in nicer area motels.

Am I the only one here that doesn't care?

First of all, I'm not shocked that's your style. Also, I'm not shocked someone would refuse to stay at such a place.

I personally choose to stay at nicer places, because I don't want to deal with crackheads at 3am. Until I'm allowed to CCW, I will avoid shit places.

Yeah, but you do some pretty nasty things. Everyone else is just scared they'll have to sleep in a bed where you did some crazy shit with 4 chicks and a couple dudes.

No offense meant. :sunny:

personally i'd rather pay more for a nicer place. especially if i've travelled all the way to another country.

although i did stay somewhere fucking skanky in hong kong last year

I have never had a run in with a crack head or a hooker at any of these places ,though in 06 a friend had a run in when a hooker tried to open his room door.

When we stay in Clewiston, its usually at some seedy place for $45 a night as opposed to $79 a night or something. Some cities, like St Augustine, it doesn't matter as much. We stay at the Scottish Inn for $39 a night there and it has always been very clean.

Maybe I don't mind it as much because I am almost never in the room? I mean, we typically go out looking for wildlife at around 6am and don't come back until midnight...

don't you live in a very modest home that is filled with reptiles and arachnids in a low income neighborhood in Kentucky?

You probably feel right at home in a cheap motel

I think location has a major influence though. You can stay a Motel 6 in 5 different cities and get different settings each time.

When you say trashy, people automatically assume in very low income areas. I mean, staying at Imperial Palace is trashy in comparison to the Bellagio, but it's still in a decent area ;)

There is nothing wrong with staying in a lower priced hotel, as long as it's in a location that's a step above* a 3rd world country.

Hahah almost all of eastern Kentucky is low income but yah. Though we only live here because it was the first place we found that would let us keep the animals. We lived in some pretty upscale apartments prior to this. But I thats part of it to.

I prefer cheesy over skanky.

Like Bob Stupak's Vegas World casino (which doesn't exist any more, unfortunately).

The number of bedbug infestations has risen significantly since the early 21st century. The National Pest Management Association reported a 71% increase in bedbug calls between 2000 and 2005.[32] The Steritech Group, a pest-management company based in Charlotte, North Carolina, claimed that 25% of the 700 hotels they surveyed between 2002 and 2006 needed bedbug treatment.

do you collect those bugs too?

next time your in south florida shoot me a line, I'd be happy to buy you a beer and shoot the shit

we've also got a decent death/black metal scene here if you're up for some debauchery

Someone find the clip of when they went to the Pocono's and ran a black light in the room and in the champagne glass hot tub and the whole room and hot tub lit up.

One of the few times I stayed in a really bad hotel, some UGLY prostitute started knocking on my door at 3am.

I could see her from the peephole and she really was ugly. Butt fucking ugly.

She did give good head, though.

Define "skanky." I've stayed at a few Motel 6's that were clean, neat, in decent areas of town, and extremely cheap.

I usually look at a room's bathroom as a good guide to its overall cleanliness. If the bathroom is dirty, you can bet the rest of the room is worse.

I stayed at a really old, shitty hotel in hollywood for 1 night a few months ago, mainly because it was one of the cheapest hotels available and it was pretty much smack in the middle of west hollywood which put it in a decent touristy area. I didn't mind because we were literally just looking for a place to sleep for a night because we were going to be in the same area the next day as well.

While I was checking in, a hooker walked up to the front desk with some kind of story about how she's out of town and would like to find out if they rent hourly. While the room certainly wasn't new and pretty, it was clean and had deadbolts for the door. And the parking garage was behind a locked gate as well. So while it was certainly ghetto, I still felt reasonably safe and didn't have to sleep in somebody elses wet spot. That's all that really matters.
