i have an 802.11n router and an 802.11n draft network card (this one (http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/Accessories/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1&sku=430-2342)) the router is running in a mixed n/g mode because there are often g devices connected to it. the 'n' network card identifies the network as an n/g mixed network but doesn't connect w/ 802.11n, the router is actually saying it's using 802.11g, what's the deal?

you have to use some low grit sandpaper on the antennas to get better N reception

the network defaults to the lowest speed that is being used?

basically you're using your N card as a G card

so this is something outside of my control? basically the signal is ****ty and it defaults to g? because it says the signal is excellent and the router and network card are like 10 ft from each other

if that's not the case, how can i make it work over 802.11n?

from the way I understand it using n/g mixed means that while all your 'n' network cards can access the network they can only run at the speed of the slowest thing connecting (in this case 'g' cards/xbox whatever) it doesn't have anything to do with the reception its just how mixed signals work

Out of curiosity, which router are you using? I'm in the market for a new wireless one.
