[ram] question about chips -- i want to replace 2 512s with 1gb -- will it work?

i suppose i could just open it up and test it

but someone told me that you need to always have 2 chips for it to boot

i wanted to try and see if this one worked. if it did, i was gonna buy another so i'd have a 2gb setup
 
only rdram and ecc memory require that afaik

you don't have ecc and i highly doubt you have rdram

yeah, people with rdram are people who bought their computer 4/5 years agoa nd spent alot of money on the 'better' ram.

i see people with it every now and then...
 
I may be a little behind on tech but im pretty sure 1 chip can replace 2, however you wont be getting dual channel anymore, if that system supported it.
