LOOK BELOW FOR UPDATED LIST

Is there anything sorely out of place, so far as i can tell i havent made any grave mistakes. I'm planning on getting most of it in about 2-3 months, mostly waiting for the geforce 9 series to come out so the price of the 8800gts drops.

questions/comments/concerns

in all its exactly 2,000

//repost since there is a lack of interest on the TW Tech branch//

btw my budget cutoff is 2000, it IS within my price range

So, you're broke, but making lists of expensive hardware in an attempt to look knowledgeable about computers.

Looking forward to the "super models I would have sex with" thread.

im not gonna pretend im super computer savvy, its a growing interest and this is the first step.

why wouldnt it boot?

Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower
This case is retarded and annoying. How do you make a computer case ugly and difficult to work with? How about big metal flaps on the front?

XFX MB-N780-ISH9 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI Intel
Waste of money unless you want 3 card SLI. Just get yourself a motherboard with a P35 chipset like the Gigabyte GA-P35 DS4

BFG Tech BFGR88640GTSOC2E GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card
Way to spend money on old technology. Either get the 512MB GTS or get the GT.

Rosewill RX850-S-B ATX12V v2.2 & EPS12V v2.91 850W Power Supply
That's about 400W more than you need. This means it will actually run ineffeciently. It's like putting a nuclear reactor on a rowboat. Get a corsair 520W instead. It'll be more than enough power even if you want to go SLI in the future.

Intel Xeon E5345 Clovertown 2.33GHz Socket 771 80W Quad-Core 2U Passive Processor Model BX80563E5345P
Yeah...a socket LGA771 Xeon to go in your LGA775 motherboard.

OCZ Platinum Edition 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2P10004GK
Decent ram, but you'd better be overclocking if you're using it. If not, you're wasting money. Switch to DDR2 800 or DDR2 1066 instead.

Fujitsu MAX3073RC 73GB 15,000 RPM Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Hard Drive
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

I suppose this is fine, but I'd take a single 750GB Western Digital over this any day. Cheaper, decent performance, and not a horribly expensive and noisy SCSI drive.

You gonna burn cds or dvds ever?

for $250 would it be a fair replacement without losing much?

... why do you insist on buying processors made for servers

since you apparently have no idea what you're doing i would go for something a little easier

like a processor that doesn't reach boiling point every time you go to 100% load
