codec question

I have this avi file that once worked fine, but now when I open it the audio goes at normal speed, but the video goes at 2 or 3x speed

all of my other avi files work fine, and I've tried updating my codecs a few times but nothing seems to fix it

is there any program that will tell me what codec the file is encoded with?

any other suggestions to get this video working again?

You could do that and other things like remastering it to another codec using this little proggie:

Or just play it in VLC

I ran that program, it says the codec is XviD ISO MPEG-4 and that "Codec(s) are Installed"

didnt think it was a player problem cause I tried a few different players, but VLC plays it properly
