SB Live! and Logitech X-540 5.1 surround?

I just picked the surround sound system last night and Im getting feint crackling from the speakers and had to disconnect the center speaker because of the interference-like noise it was making.

Sound cards only 2 weeks old. Time to upgrade or do I have bad speakers?
 
don't get the audigy se though, its just a rebranded sb live.

I just got the z-5500s in the mail today ($150 from amazon on black friday.)

They're ok, but the headphone output leaves a LOT to be desired. They can't even properly power some mid-range senns.

What's wrong? Not reproducing your conservative talk radio to your audiophilic expectations?
