[Z-5500 Owners]Hook up to laptop with spdif output?

I am confused as hell. I just bought a z-5500 speaker set on ebay and picked it up today for 200 bucks. I'm trying to figure out how to connect the whole thing to my laptop sound card which has built in S/PDIF Digital output (5.1 CH) optical/coaxial for DVD Content. It looks like a normal 3.5mm jack except it glows red. Do I need this kind of cable?

I have no fuckin idea which cable to buy to connect them and I'm not about to buy the monster cables for 500000 dollars.

So far I have them hooked up to my TV through the AUX input which barely even uses the sub let alone the center channel speaker.
