when I move my mouse over my remote controll....

you're probably moving the mouse over the volume buttons and its smashing them down, altering the volume.
 
If you had an electric guitar you could hear the awesome pulsing noise it gives off if you place the remote over one of your pickups and press a button.

Also you can see the actual light in some camcorders.
