Moving out of the dorms this year, somebody threw out the envelope containing my Vista CD key. The CD itself was in my laptop, so somebody must've just thought it was a worthless paper envelope.
Anyway,
Product Key
has a program that will retrieve the key from Vista. The trial program only finds the key and displays the first 2 sets of letters/numbers. But considering how the program found the key instantly without any hesitation leads me to believe that perhaps I could do this myself without paying 5.95 for this program I'll use once.
Is there a place where the key is stored? Some method? Some freeware program that does the same thing as this?
