And I don't know shit.

What the hell is SATA?

I need to by a Hard drive for an older computer to give to the fiance's parents Last tiem I bought a HArd Drive I only had to worry about regular IDE cables. I need some education on this.

Sata = Serial ATA. Just get a PATA drive and don't worry about SATA.

PATA what does that stand for?

Some stuff on New Egg only has ATA is that for notebooks?

Others have serial ATA

Then there is IDE Ultra ATA

Buy 4 and RAID them ftw. Buy bigfoots, cause they are big.

Lol I remember those old 3600 RPM bigfoot drives from about 10 years ago.

Geta PATA bro - its "Parallllllellllll ATA" as in "IDE"

Sata uses a little tiny cable smaller than a USB cable.

I personally like the Seagates these days - you should be able to get a nice 160 for under $100
