C&C (or Dune II) practically invented the formula. I don't give a shit, so long as it's fun. The vast majority of "formulaic RTSs" don't do it well at all, despite trying their best to copy the C&C/AOE/(WC/SC) games.
No argument there.

There's a reason other games used that formula. It works. So long as C&C 3 stays fairly true to the first games, it could work too. I'm also a fan of the fast, hectic style of C&C games, which I haven't seen duplicated well in any other series.
Knowing EA, it's far from a sure thing, though.
