Where do you buy your art?

I've noticed I live in a large space with pretty much nothing on the walls, it sort of makes it feel cold and empty

I'd like to see where everyone gets their art from, everything from oil on canvas to clay/metal sculpture. Im sure most come from local galleries and auctions, so if there are any excellent galleries or auctions to check out (preferably in the US area) please let me know your favorites.

Thanks everyone and I will share my findings with you all

I actually own several Smithsonian art pieces, but the institute doesnt have enough money to buy them, so I just let them keep it in their museums because I believe everyone should enjoy good art.

Try the Laguna Beach art walk. All the galleries on the coast open their doors to invite in admirers and consumers on the first Thursday of every month.

I make my own and trade it for other work.

Thats actually pretty interesting claudius, you dont mind if I call you claudie do you? Hey claudie I was thinking about doing the same thing, and even displaying my own peices and using a room primarily as a room to have paints in, but is it considered sophisticated in some social circles? Or would it be lower class so to speak to try and create your own art?

Yeah, it's completely acceptable. It will show your guests how sophisticated you are. I also recommend keeping a grand piano or a harp or something around to impress people you have over. You don't have to play it, just tell them you fiddle around with it and act coy if they ask you to do something for them.

Excellent, I will try that. You know what, I am actually going to be going to Huntington beach in a couple of months to watch the pro beach volleyball opens, I will make a quick stop in Laguna

want me to make you some origami art for your bachelor pad animo

Thanks for the offer, do you have examples of your work to view online? I must insist to see the work before I buy it to ensure that it isn't tacky or too loud

TW art trade omg?

Actually I think its sort of a good idea. At least for the actual TW artists. Judging by the drawing thread there are a lot of them and it'd be nice to get some diverse artwork.

Haha, know what, I've actually done just that, the trick is to change the direction of the conversation quickly so that they forget to let you play, even though you bragged that you were a concerto pianist in rome or some bullshit... haha

I know a few artists and generaly buy stuff from them, some times I order the colors so they will match the room I want them in.

i just hire a team of specialists to go find art for me. it only costs a few hundred thousand dollars per excursion, plus the art, so it isn't too hard to afford. it digs a little deeper into the pockets when you have to do it for all of your houses across the globe, but i get by. i like to just chill on my yacht in the mediterranean until i get a call that a house is done, then fly over on my helicopter to check it out. if i hate it, i just burn the house down and build another one and try again.
