My first day at a new job ...

... and I'm whoring here already.

That should be a good start.

They told me internet usage is left open and unfiltered but to use common sense. They then asked me to try to limit updates and email attachments as the company (about 30 people) had used almost 3GB!!!! last month and they end up paying if they use more bandwidth.

I then told them I had personally used 11 GB at home last month and a few jaws hit the ground, they are now a little worried about me :) some people have simply no idea about the internets ...

Oh and by bandwidth I actually meant total usage not pipe thickness - I have no idea about the information superhighway either - sheesh

I hope this gets you fired.

Unfortunately not - the pipe line here consists of two - thats right TWO! standard adsl connections (prob 512/128 or lower) shared between all users. Apparently a dude who sent a 5Mb email attachment killed the whole system last week. Good times ahead :)

And yeah - they let me know that it doesn't mean unmonitored - unlike my last job where they just did not care at all - that was awesome!
