BBQ advice

I have cooked long filets of salmon many times, using the soaked cedar plank method. But I have come into possession of a few good size salmon steaks, the cross cut type. Anyone have suggestions on how I would BBQ that style of cut? Is that something that you do on a plank as well, or is there a more preferred process?

I marinate salmon steaks overnight in a honey mustard creme sauce, then grill them in foil.

it tastes good, but I'm sure there are lots of ways that are much better.

Grill those babies over mesquite wood. (Don't burn them, though. A little brown is fine, but you don't want any black.) You might want one of those grilling cage things so you can flip them without breaking them apart. Top with melted butter or heavy cream, chopped capers, and a squeeze of lemon. Damn, that's tasty.

Otherwise, uh, the plank should be fine.. I guess.

I usually cook on a plank... one thing I do (but don't know if it makes a difference) is, when I take the plank out of the water, I rub olive oil and garlic on it.

I've also burned up more planks than I can count, so you probably shouldn't listen to me.
