Morality is not the realm of government. When a government tries to legislate what's moral and what isn't, those are the first steps of tyranny.

If you don't want your children watching porn, or playing violent videogames, raise them better. don't buy them an xbox. If you don't want your children to have sex when they're 14, tell them "you shouldn't be having sex when you're 14."

Gay marriage has nothing to do with running a country. why the **** is the government getting involved in this? it has NOTHING to do with running a country. the government isn't going to topple cause a couple gay guys got married. our basic civilization isn't at risk cause some guys live together and get a tax break.

beyond the level of "hey don't kill people" or "don't steal ****" and other simple human rights, the government should not get involved in peoples basic moral freedom.

You should probably define morality. Should we not outlaw murder because it's immoral?

No, we shouldn't. We should outlaw it because it's infringing on the rights of another human.

And infringing on the rights of another human is immoral!

And why do we have a right to life if not for morality?

And why do we have a right to life if not for morality?

Because it is one of those unalienable rights granted to us by the Creator, who has nothing to do with morality. Didn't you read the Declaration of Independence? ;)

I can deal with that, I am not against the idea, it just irked me that he presumed that morality is some inert well defined concept. Abortion for instance, where do the rights of the mother impact illegally on the zygote/embryo/fetus/baby? There is some debate.

How does incarceration and the death penalty figure into the equation?

Fetuses don't have rights because they aren't US citizens until they're born so they're not protected by the Constitution. That's why it's legal to kill them just like it's legal to kill Mexicans.
