I think this is a good rig, but I will definitely listen to any suggestions.

I'm also thinking about getting a TV tuner. Can't seem to find any consensus on a good card though.

The Samsung 250GB SATA 3.0 hard drive is $5 less and has the same features and works just as well.

ASUS boards are overpriced. Get one of the following and save yourself another $20-$30

I don't know where the fuck you bought that Opteron 165 but it's $100 cheaper at newegg.com
Also an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ is $30 cheaper and would give you the same performance as the 165, has 200 more mhz on the cpu but only 512 cache.

PS - Oh i noticed you paired the CPU with that PSU (to give you the $440)
Personally I wouldn't trust COOLMAX PSU's. Should've bought an Antec or Sparkle. Probably would've been cheaper too.

You're both right. The speakers do suck, but don't get 4.1 or 5.1 if you don't need it. I'd suggest a good pair of headphones if you're not going for the full room speaker setup.

Honestly, the 8 channel audio that comes with many nForce4 SLI chipsets is pretty damn awesome. I'm using the one on my EPoX SLI now and its wonderful with my Cyber Acoustics 5.1 setup.
 
I was iffy on coolmax, but it was just as highly rated as antec (at least the ones I saw) and I get the combo discount. Plus it has 'cool' in the title, how cool is that?

Seriously, I know I should check again before I buy.

I hear good stuff and bad stuff, but it's the same with all boards. Anything else you'd recommend?
 
I have the A8N-SLI; haven't had any problems with it (save the chipset fan going out which is retarded given how much you pay for it), but yes Asus help historically has been highly consistent with that of canine fecal matter.

I think I'd rather have a quality product with shitty support than vice-versa, but hey. Everybody's support seems to suck these days. :(
