i just bought this(bf2) game

Do your research before you unlock anything. The opportunities to do so are limited.


Practice in singleplayer mode.

Points are easiest to get via teamplay/assist actions: flag captures, medic actions, etc, not from combat.
 
Join a 24/7 Strike at Karkand server and spawnkill with a tank, just don't join the wrong side (MEC) or you'll be the one spawkilled.
 
It's very easy to get unlocks now. With the new patch, they made it exceptionally easy to gain ranks and get unlocks. Just play and have fun. Its a great game.

If you insist on being a point whore to get some unlocks, toss medic and supply packs all over the place, and you'll be Master Gunnery Sgt in no time lol.
 
get Special forces, or play with your account on a mates box who does have it for a few rounds, and you get another set of unlocks.

some of the SF unlocks are bloody great. Plus the fact you get two every rank compared to one with regular BF2.

Why not? that is kinda dumb, they are in the game.
 
Getting SF is worth it for the extra unlocks but don't bother with EF booster because you don't get any extra unlocks.

The unlocks may not be allowed in competition but it is still fun to use them while pubbing. The game really isn't about having better unlocks, when it comes to competition it is about how well a team plays together. Learn to squad hop and practice tactics that help you win, what weapon is in your hand means very little if you work well in a squad even on a pub.

There's a way around having to buy SF. Just log in under a friend's account, jump in one game, exit out, close game, restart and login under your name and POOF... SF unlocks :)

yeah, the hard part is finding a decent pub :-/

what are some good servers to play on?

it isn't balanced anyways. If anything it then makes it more balanced as people have the same weapons. As to not everyone having them all unlocked that is just stupid. Sure its true, but if your in a comp, you play enough to have at least 3-4 done, probably 5-6+. You have unlocked the classes you are gonna use, you don't need everyone to have access to everything to make it fair.

We don't really bother with sticking to a specific server, we usually just get on ts2 or somebodies vent and find out where they are and join up.

The great thing about BF2 is there are lots of servers so you can pick the number of people and map you feel like playing and then pick the best ping out of the list.
