PS2 Modding...

I have a friend that has a PS2 he just now (lives in a cave) heard about the mod chips etc for the PS2. He wants me to put a mod chip on the PS2 so that he can play the 'backups' of his games.

I've been doing some reading and I think I am going to go with a 4 wire solder solution. I'm sure someone here can shed some light on modding the ps2.

Thanks

I've used SwapMagic on my slim model and it works fine. I read that hardware mods on a slim could screw the laser up, I'm not sure if this was a rumor or not, but that's the reason I used a soft mod.

Also, it's easy to remove, you don't even have to open the ps2 up.

If it's an original ps2, you might want to go with using a program like hdloader and load the games onto a harddrive that's connected to the ps2. I don't think that requires a mod chip, I could be wrong.

edit: Looks like hdloader works on all models.

Why in fuck would you Mod your PS2...

Just get SwapMagic and a slide card....

So you can play burnt, downloaded and/or hd loaded games without buying anything? It's all in software?
