my company makes mobile games, and we are looking for coders to join the team for a contract position, with the possibility of it becoming FT. J2ME/mobile development experience is prefered by not mandatory (non-professional J2ME development counts). love for gaming is necessary.

You said experience is preferred but not necessary. It sounds like they don't need any Java/J2ME programming experience.

Might want to clarify that in the original post :) Even though the title says it all.
