[DVD burning] So I have this ripped movie....

Trepdation

Veteran X
It was ripped for CD so there 2, 650 meg AVI files. From what I gather with the encoding I tried with them is they contain 6 channel audio. What do I have to do to get those on one DVD?

I got thsi cucusoft program and ran it with the highest quality settings but it gave me a 6.5 gig m2v file (obviously too large for a single dvd)

Should I start from scratch and use a different process? I've been in computers a while and have the smarts to figure it out. I just don't want to waste DVD's in the process, so I'm tapping the TW knowledgebase for answers.

BTW I wants the best quality video and Audio (obviously)

CLIFFS:
encoded a movie from avi to m2v - too big
How do I burn it correctly and retain quality?

Thanks in advance.

First, you unfortunately won't retain the original DVD quality--that was lost when you compressed it down to two CDs. You could probably accomplish this all with your original software, you'd just have to lower the quality setting. Otherwise the process will look something like:

1) Join the 2 avi files into one (Vdubmod)
2) Strip the 6ch audio (Vdubmod)
3) Transcode the video to m2v, adjusting bitrate to fit on a DVD (TMPGEnc)
4) Build the DVD using your ac3 audio and m2v video (TMPGEnc DVD Author)
