Buying a 'basic' Laptop this weekend...

Does this one seem ok? $1099 from BestBuy. I like the fact that it has 100gb drive and pretty screen (when seen in person)...but other then that...does it seem 'ok'?

Using it initially to run a screen saver deal thing for a tradeshow I am doing next week...then wife will probably mostly use it for just websurfing/email around the house. Maybe use it as a place for our IPOD to get songs from..etc.

NOT using for gaming or high demanding programs.

Just wondering if anyone sees any 'problems' with it.

looks like it'll be perfect for what you want to use it for

sounds like more than enough

I'd love to get something like that, just waiting for the right batch of rebates to come up.

Cool...that is sorta what I was looking to hear. At least when I start having buyers remorse next week I can mumble "****ing Vlasic/Reno!"

:p:

Actually this is gunna work out pretty good...buying it for trade show (business tax deduction +++) to show images for my business on a 42" plasma I am getting from CostCo (also tax deduction+++)

Of course...since these are business expenses these items will stay at my warehouse <cough>

Any similarity between the TV that is supposed to be at my warehouse and the TV in our bedroom that my wife will be watching various Andrew Blake titles ("Aria", "Girlfriends", etc) on is strictly just a coincidence I tell you!

Other then a 5400rpm HD I can't see anything wrong with it.

And for what you plan to use it for, should be fine. I just personally don't like using anything less then 7200rpm HD's.

7200rpm laptop hard drives aren't that common

hell most of them are still 4200

I think 5400 is quite standard especially for a low voltage centrino--it'll be fine.

Also I have a gig of ram, and I only use half of it even when I am gaming/editing or whatever, 512 is just fine for your use, trust me.

you could probably spend 600-700 and get a dell and it will still work for what you need it for...
