Tacoma, WA

What is there to do out there? I am heading out Friday for 8 days because I am competing in a competition.

Combat Tactics Scenarios
Combat/Tactical Weapons
Ranger Obstacle Course w/1.5 mi combat gear run at the end

Needless to say, there are 3 events and 8 days so when I am not at the competition what should I/my team check out?

Tacoma smells... just fyi

Go into Seattle and explore. There's the Science Center with an IMAX, Gasworks park is pretty cool on a nice day, and you can check out EMP (Experience Music Project--if you like music this place is pretty kick ass, and the building is shaped like a giant guitar). You can also go into the U-District in Seattle and look around down there--some cool pubs, comedy clubs, etc.

Although it sounds like you're really going to Ft Lewis, not Tacoma. However, the Glass Art Museum in Tacoma is pretty cool, but other than that you should drive up to Seattle.

McChord AFB/Ft Lewis

Any good strip joints? Which pubs do the hot girls go to. Can't be having sausage fests.

There's a place called "Rick's" Not Work Safe
in Kirkland that is pretty nice, but in Seattle Belltown Billiards [Semi-NWS depending on time of night] is a good place to go.

There are several things to do while in Tacoma.

Museum of Glass. World renowned glass blowing/art. Right downtown.

Point Defiance Park and Zoo. If you're into that kind of thing.

Old Spagetti Factory. Great food.

Tacoma is more of a residential city than a tourist destination. There isn't a lot to do there that is fun/exciting. You can, of course, go up to Seattle, 35 miles north, to do all sorts of stuff.

Kind of an overview website. You'd have to do searches from there:

Hope this helps. Tacoma isn't, as I said, much of a tourist destination, but the area itself has a lot to offer.

nm, I was wrong.

Beginning in the 1930s, Tacoma was for a time known in the Puget Sound region for its malodorousness, due to the "Aroma of Tacoma" -- a distinctive, acrid odor produced by local paper manufacturing.

Washington strip clubs suck ass because you can't drink, it's not even worth the $15 they charge you to walk in the door.

You can drive down to Portland... More strip clubs per capita than any other US city. Horny hippie bastards
