question concerning openGL/direct3d

Is there a (logical) reason why 1280x720 isn´t supported by DirectX ? (it is possible in openGL mode)

background: i bought a projector which is 720p compatible and no DX game can be run at that resolution.

Hmph. What's wrong with it, exactly? Just blank, or it gives an error? I am no expert. But I'll dispense useless advice anyways:

Powerstrip allows you to change resolution to whatever wackyness you want, and change the refresh rate so it'll work nicely if it's a problem with refresh rate or whatnot (guides exist for doing this for HD resolutions, Google). You have to change the ingame resolution manually though, through the config file or whatever.

That should work, no idea why it shouldn't. Try updating your drivers?

problem is (simply) that DX games do not support that resolution.
you can switch to 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1600x1200.
other resolutions aren´t possible. i havent tried powerstrip.

it is not a driver related problem. i know what i am doing :)
