"Locked Drive" question [pic]

I have a 250GB external maxtor drive (its drive K) yet right under it there is a "Maxtor Locked Drives" icon.. as if there is another disk on the computer.
is this something all external hd's do, if so why.. someone explain this madness!!!11

Probably a feature of your drive, that might be a folder that would contain shortcuts to your "locked drives."

i searched for maxtor locked drives.. not close enough i guess.
thanks.

but my question is, why is it seperate from the drive itself, "K".
