It seems like an interesting game and I was wondering if anyone here participated in any competitions or if anyone even knows how to play it. It's a board game but it looks like there's an online version available: http://www.vasl.org/
I imagine the learning curve is enormous but I think some of you war/board game fans could enjoy this.

Advanced Squad Leader (ASL) is a wargame that simulates small unit actions (individual counters represent single vehicles, men and squads) in World War II. It is not simply a game, but rather a detailed game system. There are approximately 200 official scenarios, and players can create their own. Between the ASL starter kit (12 page-rulebook) and a complete set (14 boxed modules) is a wide range of possibilities covering every theater, period and nationality of the war.
