Stations replacing the movie with other programming Thursday include Cox Television-owned stations in Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C., three Midwest stations owned by Citadel Communications.

"Under strict interpretation of the rules, we can't run that programming before 10 p.m.," said Ray Cole, president of Citadel, which owns WOI-TV in Des Moines, KCAU-TV in Sioux City and KLKN-TV in Lincoln, Neb.

The Oscar-winning film includes a violent depiction of the D-Day invasion and profanity.

"We have attempted to get an advanced waiver from the FCC and, remarkably to me, they are not willing to do so," Cole told The Des Moines Register.

Yes, I know it's fox, but dammit. Fucking FCC pisses me off. Not playing it in Sioux City(hometown) and Lincoln(Where I live for college). Ugh. :grimreape

America is such a shitty country with stuff like this.

Let stations show whatever they want, whenever. If families don't want to watch that kind of stuff, then they won't. And some other station will cater to family-oriented programming. You know... competition. market forces. That kind of thing.

This is just another example of the government having to parent for people. And it comes from both the Blue and Red sides.

give us a break

most parents, christian or not, don't want their kids to see people being mutilated during their evening dose of TV.

What do you care? is 10pm your bedtime?

Why is anyone blaming anyone on this? The stations could technically be fined by the FCC if they show it, so they aren't. Where's the issue?

Correct. If people were to travel to foreign countries and turn on the TV around 9pm, they would be surprised that porn is playing... Sheltered fucking people. In my advertising classes this is a huge topic of discussion. Advertising in the US is completely different from advertising in say...well, anywhere.

I care because I believe what the FCC does with censorship is wrong.

the FCC isnt blocking shit

The stations are afriad that the FCC MIGHT do something
They WOULD. That is why I consider it blocking. If the FCC wasn't so nazi, we wouldn't have a problem.

I fail to see how this is a huge issue is all.

Typicaly more mature things don't air on TV until after a certian time, that's the way it's always been.

why don't they just play it after 10pm? doesn't sound that hard

Why should they be forced to do anything like this?

I don't believe the government should be involved in things like this in any way.

If you don't like whats on TV, turn to another channel. Pretty cool, isn't it? But just to say "No, noone can play this before 10pm" is wrong.

That's the problem. The US is one of the most sheltered nations when it comes to censorship. Travel over the Atlantic and visit Europe and it's COMPLETELY different. You can see this even in advertising.

seriously that movie still bothers me....the part where jew boy gets knifed up cuz pussypants doesn't know what to do....
