Cadillac Dealer > Mercedes Dealer

I know this might be just a 'single' example...but I can only tell you this story cuz I know it as fact.

I bought my '04 CTS-V a little over a month ago and have been treated like royalty from the "Marvin K. Brown" dealership here in San Diego. I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Unfortunately today I had to take it in for service (Oil temp going high)...and they of course got me a rental from the Hertz rental car place which is part of the dealership. The rental they gave me...well I was pleasantly surprised....an '04 Cadillac DeVille. :bigthumb:

I was surprised because I was expecting a piece of junk for a rental...because my business partner a year or two ago bought a new 500SL (the new hard-top convertable)...the thing was over $100k when he bought it due to demand for it. At the time it was Mercedes top model (and its still one of the top). He had ALOT of problems with it...but hell it was a completely new model so things like that do happen in the industry.
He was of course compted a rental car too. What does Mercedes give drivers of their (at the time) flagship car?...a Ford Escort.

(this happened multiple times...every time we gave him hell for it)

I can't wait to tell him about this.

ps. Ford Escort is a nice car...don't get me wrong...but it is not much of a replacement for a 500SL.

It really is a dealer-by-dealer thing. Some really care about satisfying their customers before, during, and after the purchase hoping for repeat purchases, word of mouth, etc. Some only care about making the customer happy before the sale, then take the money and run.

Some Kia dealerships will be better than some Mercedes, BMW, and Ferrari dealerships. A lot of them are the other way around.

when my dad had an i30, infiniti would always give him a newer i30 to drive around in.

bmw does stuff like that too, tho my dads z4 hasnt needed to go to the shop so i dont know what they give exactly.

depending on dealership and cars avail, i wouldnt say this is true for all of mercedes (nor the cadillac and good quality).

Yea.. what a shitty dealership.

My uncle owns a couple mercedes, and they always give him nearly the exact same one when he takes it in for service.

Then again, he spent probably 200k last year at that dealership *shrug*

Yeah...that is why for the longest time I wanted a Saturn...as it seemed that every person I talked to who had one was totally impressed by the service/treatment they received.

My dealer has called my twice (one week after the sale the salesman called...about 3 weeks after the owner of the dealership).

Oh...and most important of all, my dealership sent me a plant! WOOHOO!

I would be one pissed Mercedes owner if I owned a SL500 and they gave me a Escort while it was in the shop. I'd never buy Mercedes again and attempt to return the car under lemon laws.

Cadillac dealers are always kickass

My mom use to have an escalade...then she traded it in and they got an SRX and a new XLR (beats the shit out of a mercedes 500SL :p)

but she buys Caddies because they have always treated her like gold

she got the XLR in dark gray...and the dealer called her a week later to let her know they just got a red one in and if she wanted to...she could trade for it straight up

what dealer does that!?!

Cadillac owns

btw

check out the hotness

yeah it'll drive just as good

until the engine falls out after 30000 miles

american cars != qaulity

i meant on purely styling. hence the ugh.
not sure about driving. i just know it either dont hold the road very well (fairly low roadholding rating). both are too heavy and too much of a soft ride.

the only problem i have with sl500's is that everyone and their dad has one around me..

American quality > eurotrash quality last year

oshits

Interesting. When my mom takes her Mercedes to get it serviced they put her in a car and give her a driver, and he takes her anywhere in the city (usually she goes to the mall etc) until it's ready..

A dealer who desperately needs a Dark Grey XLR for another customer.

I can understand the love it or hate it on the styling. That's a taste thing...and the new caddies are definately love 'em or hate 'em.

As far as the handling though goes...no offense but your talking out your ass...at least in regards to the Cad-CTS-V. The thing handles AMAZING. Mags are praising it like crazy cuz FINALLY american cars are competing again with the Euros...The only thing Car and Driver and other mags knock it for is the interior...which I don't understand cuz I love mine.

have you sat in modern euro interiors? They beat whatever the GM parts bin has by like 10 million points
