Web distribution of Games

I love this idea, one less store I have to go to... BUT I have a problem when they charge the same or in some cases MORE to deliver your game over the web.

I went to look at buying CoH over the web and they are selling it for 49.99. I've heard Best Buy is selling it for 39.99, that's just a rip-off if you ask me. No shipping or printing/material charges, but they charge the same price, especially on a game that already slaps you with a monthly fee.

I'm gonna try and hit Best Buy later today.

Best Buy can negotiate bulk prices, and pass them on to the consumer. You as an individual have no such clout. Also, they certainly won't jeapordize major distribution channels by undercutting their prices on a website.

Why not? They make more money that way...

Bandwidth is expensive. Probaly not as expensive as box/manual and shipping but still not free.

Oh, I'm not saying they should sell it at cost over the web, but if Best Buy can make a profit off of $30 on a shipped boxed product, how can the developers not be able to do better than that off of the web for less?

It's a rip if you ask me.
