DVD player question

Something like this may already exist without me knowing it:

How probable is it that there will soon be DVD players (for your TV) that will allow you to browse the DVDs files and play other formats such as AVIs (DivX, XviD, 3viX, etc...) in addition to the usual DVD, VCD, SVCD ?

I'm sick of converting AVIs to DVD or SVCD and whatnot.

Cool. Do they let you "browse" the DVDs? Such as where you could just throw a bunch of compatible AVIs on the disc in some organized folders and just browse the folders and play them?
 
yes, but some are much better than others at menus.
go to the site linked above and read about the dvd players - link is on the left.
 
Final question: Is there any site that tracks prices on equipment like this like Pricewatch does for computer components? I'm a cheap bastard.
