The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players

Ok, who has heard of these guys? I just picked up their CD, Vintage Slide Collections from Seattle, Vol. I, and it kicks ass. And I'm going to see them tomorrow night at State in St. Pete. HOLY SHIT I CAN'T WAIT!

For those who havn't heard of them, It's a family band, the father plays the guitar, piano and is lead vocals. The daughter, who is only 10 years old, plays the drums, harmonica, bass and is backup vocals. And the mother plays ... the slides! They go around to estate sales, buy dead people's slides and writes songs about them. Then they have a slide show and play them along with the music.

And they are scary looking ... Pictures will be up by atleast Friday night.

Also Harriet the Spy and some chic on Pete and Pete.

I saw them this past summer. It was definitely a good time. Fun and different, you don't find that too often in music these days.

i saw them open for They Might Be Giants a year ago. They were cool.

I've seen them play on Conan a few times. Different... but pretty entertaining.
