1: Macs are far more expensive than a comparable PC.
2: Macs cannot run any Windows software. They can *gasp* use emulation to run Windows software, just like PCs can use emulation to run software compiled for any other platform. Unless you're trying to say that Apple was bored and decided to give Microsoft a whole lot of money to incorporate DX and Win32 into Mac OS within the past few days.
3: There was never a P4 1GHz.
4: Good luck with your plans to game on it. You're still going to have to wait for Mac ports (which almost never come.) I'd love to see somebody attempt to run anything newer than Tribes in emulation.

Akuma, with Alienware you're paying for colored plastic and service. There is no way in hell that is worth $3100.
1. Akumas perfect for a mac, price is no object to him. :p
2. Windows software as in what? We have our own version of Office and other main apps. I've run 3dsmax in emulation when I had to get a project done for school.
3. k
4. I already said running games in emulation doesn't work, it's useless. Unless you're jonesin for some uh.. old war game tabletop or like.. warcraft action and dont' have a mac cd handy.
5. MACS ****ING OWN YOU

Got Haggis?

ah, ok. I thought that it would hurt him performance wise if he was using it for gaming and stuff

He's looking at 3.06GHz P4s. The question of "batteries" is already out the window. The systems he's looking at are pretty much useless without a power outlet as it is. Besides, some of the newer 5400RPM disks actually consume less power than the 4200s, as I recall.

If he wants portability, he's going to have to look into Centrino stuff. Or at the very least a mobile chip.

So's the question of ever being able to father children if he actually puts one of those things on his lap.

Or a Mac. But we've been over that.
