They could have an invisible wall and call it the current, or it could be like in Zeld WW where you can swim for a few seconds before you die, or ANYTHING so you don't fucking die 2 seconds after walking into the ocean

Most rivers and other bodies of water don't even have a way to get out. No ladders no ramps, just water, so if they did add in swimming you'd drowned anyway.

in vice city their is tons of beach area whre you can get out but i guess Tommy vercetti was raised on a farm in montana where tehir was no pools or lakes around or something :\
