A cheque is a peice of paper you give to someone in lieu of money.

Check is what you do when you look at something ie. You check to make sure no one is behind you when you back up in your car.

Theater is American, Theatre is English, same thing with labour/labor, colour/color etc... though yah, the "our" part does come frome french influence.

I got the point, but I'm saying that shag as a verb and shag as a noun have to be related. What came first? I can buy the brits using it as slang because people screw on the rug, and I can buy people calling the rug that because people like to screw on it.
