I think they do stand up to get 'discovered'. They have a comedy club in Chicago that the owner of SNL goes to. Thats where he found Chris Farelly, etc.

other than that, it's not my kind of humor- dana carvey is CRAZY. so is John Ritter, they make the best pair.
