I just installed a new HD and put windows XP on it... when I try to run outlook express from my old hard drive it is completely empty... anyone know how to get back old settings and email?

Go to your old drive and search for your profile folder, it would have been something like x:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{C9323569-BC12-44C6-B7B1-69FFF797A68D}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\

Copy all the *.dbx files into the new recipricol folder you find in your current profile.

The actual classid will be different on your PC.

[edit] the {C9323569-BC12-44C6-B7B1-69FFF797A68D} is the classid.

is there any way to make outlook NOT delete emails off the server when it downloads them?

It's under properties in the account setup. It's under advanced and under delivery. It's just a checkbox for something like "Leave a copy of the message on the server", should be easy to find.
