Knives

For what purpose? Carrying all the time, putting on a wall, killing your wife?

Kabar is a solid utilitarian knife, overall. Bit beefy for carrying though.

Self defense is probably done better with a quality folder (Spyderco, Benchmade, Masters Of Defense, etc). Carrying a fixed blade in a subtle manner is damn near impossible.

Hunting knives and show pieces, I guess the Kabar would work. It's a nice beefy thick blade, holds up well to utilitarian use, but still holds a decent edge.

knife for self defence is a waste of time.

unless you're just going to intimidate people with it, you may as well carry a gun, since either way you're going to jail (at least you would here), and with a gun you've got less chance of getting fucked up yourself.

Its very hard to stab someone without serious risk of killing them, get yourself an extendable baton or something, at least then you can just break a wrist or something.

While this thread is here I might as well ask what's a good pocket knife to get that has a black blade and a black handle (and maybe also a thumbstud on the blade to open it with one hand). I want to order one soon.

Almost all of the Benchmade folders have an optional black coating on the blade.

Check http://www.actiongear.com

They carry a decent line of quality blades.

go with a Sykes-Fairbairn

Double edged blades are illegal in a number of states. Make sure you check before you go the Fairbairn route. (the more modernized applegate-fairbairn blades are 10x nicer, anyways)

No. If its for self defense and basic utility, look at the emerson's or Benchmades.

I have one similiar to the black one in the next pic. I paid a little under that for mine so shop around and find the best price.

They are a bit pricey but they are great knives. They use a High carbon steel (ATS-34) which will hold an edge forever.

If you are looking for a fixed blade look at some of the Buck brands. http://www.buckknives.com

Not to expensive and great knives.

Thats what I use for hunting.

This is what I carry every day. Top knife in pic
I only paid $40 for mine.

Are the materials used in ka-bars good? Where can i get a back sheath, that would seem like it would make it easier to conceal plus its badass.

Also, I think knives are a good idea. Big, fuck-off shiny ones. Ones that look like they could skin a crocodile. Knives are good, because they don't make any noise, and the less noise they make, the more likely we are to use them. Shit 'em right up. Makes it look like we're serious. Guns for show, knives for a pro.

Not sure, never used one. The marines I knew that carried them liked them but said they were nothing special.
