[T:V] Concept for the CG (If there is a cg)

My idea to prevent the cg from becoming as whored as it is in T1 is pretty simple, lets have it overheat after being fired for a certain amount of time similar to the MG42 from Day of Defeat.

My poorly PS'ed example -

A bar showing the heat level of the CG pops out while you have the CG mounted and slowly goes up as you're firing, when it hits the top you can no longer fire and you must wait while it cools.

-edit i cant spel :(

Sorry, but I must disagree on principle. Ammunition is a far better limiter than overheating. :notsigned

I'm not saying take out ammo.

I dont want a CG hud now..
CG in T1 was not overused until people thought that by adding interpolate they became master whores, before that it was fine.

I'm not saying take out ammo.

No,Zooloo is implying that ammo should be limited.

Artificial limitations like the abstract "overheating" are far less fun than simply cutting down on ammo or rebalancing the weapon.

I say lower fire rate and/or damage. Obviously the cg in t1 would be a bit overpowered if it reged every time.

Or we could stop giving everyone 100 bullets of ammo.

I always thought the biggest problem with the chaingun in t1 was that if you were a HPB you were pretty much screwed.

ya, i wouldnt mind seeing more "versatile" weapons like discs, grenades or mortars
each of those had more than 1 usage

That would be a good solution. Limiting the ammo is never a very good balancing solution, because its still whorable if you have a station nearby.

I like this idea. I've seen it implemented in other games as well so there's gotta be a reason why? Oh, chainwhore :bigthumb:

Either way is good for me, as I tend to fire the CG in controlled bursts anyway. I like the idea, yes, but having it or not having it won't affect me much.

Overheating would add a lot to the gameplay, if you ask me. Not only would it require more skill to effectivley hit a target, it would add a bit of strategy to the game. Sounds great. Let's hope the DEV listens...

You could have it set where if it overheats too much then there is a random (techman: ono, random not again) chance of the cg blowing up and causing yourself damage.

BTW, the reason I add the word "random" is cause it will add to the thrill that even though the cg is overheating, I can still continue to cg the flag capper even though it could blow up !!ANY SECOND!!

I can't wait untill someone wins / loses a #1 match because of a chaingun randomly exploding. good thing a stupid newbie like you won't be on either team

Hey, life isn't purely static either. If you can't admit it then maybe you're living your life too close to that monitor of yours.

Oh, and that's not the only random factor either. There's always . . .

Ping spike

Bad day

Spilt drink on the keyboard

Tornado taking out your house while you're on the final cap route to your flag with only 10seconds to go and a victory for you if you cap this one.
