Tribes Vengeance: Scripting

I have played no other game besides T1 since december '98. Well, I have, but no more than two days, then uninstall.

So, im ignorant of other engines ability for plugin scripts.

So, since this is gonna be on the Unreal engine, is this gonna kill off the scripting community? Cause I really love scripting...

Of course not. UnrealScript is quite possibly the most thoroughly documented proprietary game engine scripting language in existence.

It's also based on C++ :)

Modding
Get wet and get wild, for this will thrill you most. In addition to delivering solid visuals, potentially solid net code, and solid performance, the Unreal engine was also selected because it, according to Irrational, is easy to mod and modding is key.

How far will this go? Probably all the way. Ever play Freedom Force? That game had user creation tools released almost eight months prior to the title's full release! Will the same happen here? Who's to say, but we do know that Irrational, from current statements and recorded history, is dedicated on the future. Expect skins, attribute modifiers, performance modifiers, map creators, and possibly even mode creators to all come and all come well designed and easy to use.

I think aimbots are based off of hitscan wepons. The only gun like this that comes close is the sniper rifle and there already was an aimbot cheat for it in t2.

Uh yeah there was, and from all acounts of those who tried it when it actually worked, it sucked donkey balls on an epic scale.
It was so utterly useless as a cheat, that I would hesitate to call it a cheat at all.

The real HappyMod2 has a working shocklance autoaim. With an .exe hack, you can get the laser rifle autoaim to work. The laser rifle autoaim was patched out at some point, but it can work again.

Keep in mind neither of these works the way the laser rifle "auto aim" worked. That one worked off of detecting a color and shooting at it. HappyMod's is based off mathematical calculation of different factors.

Unreal is definatly modable but no where near as easily as a Torque based game.
