Whats with the boxy armor and the heavy on hydrolic stilts?
Julia might actually be well designed if it weren't for the fact that she's got two huge chucks of square metal on her feet. Perfect for flying 300+ kph
If this in any indication of the movement that T3 is going to take art wise, it already missed the boat imo.
BlodBath-VuP- 04-24-2003, 17:23 yeah because it has to look perfectly realistic and reflect everything about movement etc...
um no. its a beautiful game.

Ya. If you like the art direction in UT.
Sir Lucius 04-24-2003, 17:28 The UT art team and the Irrational Games art team are unrelated. Their games share the engine, but they're not copying a style or anyrhing.
i think he means the fact that theres big armour boots on the models in t3 and ut2k3
filsinger 04-24-2003, 17:50 if she didnt have big metal boots how else will she ski around? vge
Void|deadjawa 04-24-2003, 17:52 I think the huge metal boots look cool.
alienkiller 04-24-2003, 18:01 they could be made up of some super light weight metal that can withstand the greatest of impacts
Or they could make them round and aerodynamic and not look like ass.
JohnMcClane 04-24-2003, 18:26 Look, this game is going to own beyond yours and my wildest dreams. Have faith my friend. :)

I won't have faith until the art director gets his head out of his ass and looks at the art style behind the other 2 tribes games and realises what a complete **** up he's doing. T3 is looking even darker than T2. Tribes has a very unique visual style, and they've completely missed the boat and drowned somewhere off the coast australia.
maybe her jets are in her boots.
shut the **** up idiot, you're not making the game.
maybe her jets are in her boots.
I don't care where her jets are... it shouldn't affect the fact that she's got two giant square blocks on her feet, making her just about as aerodynamic as a brick house.
Locke355 04-24-2003, 18:49 maybe her jets are in her boots.
I kinda was hoping the jet would come out of her camel toe :(
PyroTeknik 04-24-2003, 18:55 Well, I think he has a point.
I'm not against the huge ass boots, but those are a little bit on the blocky side.
Perhaps making them smoother would be better, y'know?
I could care less what it looks like as long as it is fun, and feels like tribes.

Sir Lucius 04-24-2003, 19:20 I think this is supposed to be a prequal to the other tribes games, and I think the look they're going for is space primitive.
Personally, this is just what I was hoping for -- I wanted something differnt from the traditional tribal armor.
I'm curious to see the Julia in-game, but I was impressed that they didn't throw the heavy at us as a render. It's good to know what you're getting.
I think we'll be hearing about all sorts of visual complaints in the armor styles and the sideways disclauncher, and personally I love it. Anything that sparks up that much controversy grabs my attention quite a bit.
I could care less what it looks like as long as it is fun, and feels like tribes.
The visual style is a big part of the feel, or at least for me it is. The look doesn't convey the feel of tribes to me at all. It conveys Tribes dumbed down to the UT2k3 level with. Plus the team symbols look spray painted on, not engraved into the armor like they were in the past.
The boots on julia make her look slow and clunky. The heavy looks slow and clunky. If this game is about speed, then why do the models convey a feeling slowness? I don't envision a heavy with hyrdolic feet, extended arms and hoses everywhere to be all that agile and manuverable.
