I know counter-strike has it, so does Tribes 2, but i think it needs to go...

I can't think of any good team that used tribes 2's in game chat for anything, and on counter-strike its just a bunch of annoying kids spamming.

Voice chats are cool.

They give personality to the game.
And they're useful for pubbing, despite what it may seem.

Edit: Bloops, my bad. Thought it was voice binds. I will now attempt to kill myself by ingesting too many m&ms.

i think he is talking about the in-game microphone communication, not voice binds. Obviously you can't get rid of voice binds, but the in-game mic is just stupid. If you pub counter-strike, you end up typing "stfu no one gives a **** what you are saying" half the time.

Get rid of in T3 because no one used it in t2.

If you want to have a voice chat program, just bundle in a TeamSound or TeamSpeak on the CD. But don't integrate it into the game. Waste of time and manpower.

Good idea actually.

[ ] would you like to install teamsound now?

Now does TRD pay them to do that or does Sierra pay him?

Got Haggis?

Teamsound is being bundled w/ Planetside...wonder if he has an exclusive contract or anything. Anyway, as it stands now, I think Teamspeak2 > Teamsound.

Unless that Teamsound update ever comes out. ;)

I think by the time tribes3 comes out there will be a teamsound update.

Personally I use it b/c it support from the tribes community and I just don't want to let the efforts go to waste. I don't use anything often enough to notice a difernce in terms of quality tho.

Thats what I was going to say, and I think that is a great idea.

I also concur with Colosus.

A number of teams have switched from Teamspeak2 to Ventrilo. I can't think of a single team that uses Teamsound anymore.

I don't see a need for in-game voice, either. Leave the voice chat to teamspeak 2, ventrilo, etc, etc.

I don't want ANYTHING bundled on my TNTG CD that SIERRA is not responsible for updating. Not TeamSound, TeamSpeak, or any third party mods disguised as gametypes.

I think we should bundle gamespy with the cd.

Holy crap; die, Ryan. I would pray that Tribes has its own server browser. It was what made it so great (yes, even Tribes 2 -- whose server browser rocked even more because you only got the servers you requested)!

Cool. But I guess they should know that their server browser was not part of the GUI that had been a waste of time and resources. :P

Exactally. I hope the next server browser is an interactive 3d interface.
