TF2 Pyro Update Includes Significant Class Changes; First Unlockable Weapon Unveiled

One of the new weapons, dubbed the Axtinguisher, does about half the damage as the standard axe but will guarantee a critical hit when striking enemies set ablaze by the Pyro's flamethrower.

And you thought it was bad when the medic achievements were introduced...

At 11:00am PST (2:00pm EST) today, all PC players of Team Fortress 2 can expect to get their hands on a very large update that delivers gameplay enhancements, graphics and networking optimizations, and perhaps most anticipated is the release of the "Badlands" map and tweaks to three of the existing maps as well.

The fourth in a series of Team Fortress 2 character profiles is now available, and this one features the Demoman. Team Fortress 2 is part of the Orange Box, unlocking on Steam at 2am CST tonight. The Orange Box also includes Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Portal.


Valve Confirms Episode Two, Team Fortress 2 Launch Date

Last night, Valve representatives confirmed to Shacknews that the studio's upcoming trio of Source-powered games will ship for all announced platforms on October 9, 2007. The suite, sold at retail and through Valve's Steam download service, will consist of the shooter sequel Half-Life 2: Episode Two, the team-based multiplayer game Team Fortress 2, and the action/puzzle game Portal. Valve is handling development of the games on PC and Xbox 360, with EA UK's Chertsey, Surrey office bringing the titles to PlayStation 3.
