InstantAction Brings Tribes To Your Web Browser

Submitted by: BugsPray @ 01:05 PM | Tuesday, March 17, 2009 | (url: http://kotaku.com...)

"When browser-based gaming destination first announced GarageGames' Fallen Empires: Legions, people immediately started calling it a browser-based Tribes. InstantAction would rather we call it the spiritual successor, especially now that they've got an official web-based version of Tribes on the way. The new web-based version of Tribes will feature enhanced graphics, thanks to InstantAction's powerful browser-based gaming tools, along with better modding options.

Visitors to the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next week will be able to get their hands on a playable version of Tribes, while learning how InstantAction managed to deliver an updated version of the game in web browser format.

Training Site

Submitted by: Bloodsong @ 11:16 AM | Thursday, February 12, 2009 | (url: http://www.gamerd...)

There are people on the internet who wish to keep the Shifter Tribes alive. They are providing a training site for the noobs, returning players, and players from other mods who wish to play Tribes. The perspective trainee should be instructed to read through the site, or at the very least watch all the video's 1st.
Then they can request Tribes, Ventrilo, and personal Training, etc..... at the web site providing the training.

ET- Quakewars MOD: Tribal Wars

Submitted by: Arcanox @ 06:03 PM | Sunday, September 21, 2008 | (url: http://www.twars....)

The project's working title is Tribal Wars, and it is a total conversion mod for Enemy Territory Quake Wars. The fundamental game play aspects are built around Starsiege: Tribes, but this project intends to develop additional elements that would spill over from the project's parent title Enemy Territory - Quake Wars.

We're working towards Milestone 1 in the project which will consist very much of a Tribes LT like experience, and simplified inventory stations. Subsequent milestones may include a larger selection of weapons, armor and tactical elements, many of which may be borrowed from Quake Wars.

I hope you guys like what you see, there will be more posted on the blog in the future.

Oracle Exec Joins Red 5

Submitted by: Colosus @ 12:22 PM | Wednesday, March 19, 2008 | (url: http://www.gamasu...)

Some of you may remember Red 5 Studios. The studio that hired Scott 'Cornboy!' Youngblood of Tribes 1 fame for their unannounced MMO. Scott hinted that fans of Tribes will love the new game. Well, Red 5 has now added ex-Oracle Executive Michael Weingartner. And here's what he had to say...

Said Weingartner, "There are intriguing parallels between building an innovative MMO server system and the work I was able to accomplish at Oracle. I've been influenced by a number of hit games, including the Tribes series, StarCraft, and Dark Age of Camelot. Combining my past technological experience with my passion for gaming is something I've wanted to do for years, and at Red 5, I have the opportunity."

GarageGames unveils InstantAction.com

Submitted by: [Ms] iNsAnE @ 02:02 PM | Monday, March 10, 2008 | (url: http://www.instan...)

Currently in Beta. InstantAction.com will allow online playing of FREE 3D games. Including the Tribes(ish) "Fallen Empire: Legions"

The Next Tribes?

Submitted by: BugsPray @ 10:07 PM | Wednesday, January 16, 2008 | (url: http://pc.ign.com...)

Want another Tribes game? It's looking like Fallen Empire: Legions might scratch that itch, a title by GarageGames, a company founded by four ex-Dynamix (Starsiege: Tribes developer) employees. Fallen Empire appears to be at least somewhat similar to Tribes, mostly because of its visual style and because it apparently has jetpacks. It'll be made available through InstantAction, a service that lets players play 3D action games in web browser. We didn't have a chance to play, but did get the opportunity to lob a few questions at Tim Aste, project director for Fallen Empire: Legions to get a basic sense of what the game is and how how it will work.

Multiplayer FPS confirmed by Garage Games for InstantAction

Submitted by: FalseMyrmidon @ 08:16 PM | Monday, November 19, 2007 | (url: http://www.tribal...)

Still not 100% confirmed (supposedly it could still randomly turn into Marble Blast Extreme) but it is from a GG employee. Also no confirmation on whether it has Jetpacks or not.

you probably saw some of those interviews Josh Williams did where he said we were doing a online FPS game for InstantAction. He is a jerk for that, but he was correct.

I'm working with a team of 5 core people, plus a few other employees part-time on this and other stuff, and a few external contractors. We aren't doing anything huge, just a fun online game, similar in size to something you might see on Steam. We plan on doing lots of open beta stuff as IA gives us a lot of cool upsides. We plan to make the game very open and mod-able once we have the core done, user content, etc.

Instant Action Q&A at Gamespot

Submitted by: FalseMyrmidon @ 07:06 AM | Thursday, November 8, 2007 | (url: http://www.gamesp...)

GS: So once people get into these games, how are they going to be paying?

JW: For some games, we might just stick with the unit sales thing where we're charging $10, $15, $20 or whatever it is for a title. If we're updating a game all the time, and it makes sense for that particular game, then we can do subscriptions.

GS: So with that rumor circulating of GarageGames working on a game in the vein of Starsiege Tribes, InstantAction is more geared toward these type of gamers. Have anything to say on that game, by the way?

JW: We're still sticking with our official "no comment" response for now. But, we are working on a FPS, and that's all I'll say for now.

Tribes-like Shooter Coming to InstantAction.com from GarageGames

Submitted by: Teratos @ 12:21 AM | Thursday, October 25, 2007 | (url: http://www.shackn...)

Though several titles have been announced for GarageGames' web-based 3D gaming venture InstantAction.com, what could certainly be the most anticipated title has yet to be unveiled. A source close to GarageGames told Shacknews a team-based online shooter in the vein of Dynamix' Starsiege: Tribes will be coming to the gaming service soon from GarageGames' own developers.

The World according to Barry Diller

Submitted by: DudeofDeath @ 01:40 PM | Saturday, September 22, 2007 | (url: http://www.portfo...)

He recently announced the acquisition of a majority stake in GarageGames-which Diller reveals to Portfolio.com, was a $50 million-plus investment to develop high-graphic videogames on the internet, without the need and expense of those pesky consoles...

Maybe he does like tribes... :)

Tribes Aerial Assault gaining more players again

Submitted by: TribesAerialAssault @ 09:06 PM | Friday, August 31, 2007 | (url: http://www.taacol...)

On August 27, 2007 there were very many people on TAA for the ps2 in the MGS Test server, although all of the people at www.taa5v5.tk have stopped playing. (There use to be a 22 slot server up in February 2007, and it usually got full at night..There are at least 2 clans left.. and ...the people that no longer play seem to "laugh" whenever someone says TRIBES IS DEAD. They seem to have no clue in what being a nice person is all about) In the last 2 days the list of servers have been refreshed 216 times.
Here are the list of players that played on Monday:
1.Gungrave
2.Gutterslut god
3.Mist
4.Anthony something
5.Hoosurdadee
6.Warrior 1
7.Warrior 2
8.Rookie
9.Honeymuffin
