Xbox 360 Tops PS3 in Japan

Submitted by: KillerONE @ 12:21 PM | Friday, November 9, 2007 | (url: http://xbox360.ig...)

Microsoft is having one impressive week over in Japan. In addition to grabbing the second slot in the Media Create top 50 sales charts with Ace Combat 6, the 360 sold 17,673 hardware units in one week alone. With the new sales, the system has at last crossed the 500,000 sold mark, which is something that the original Xbox never did.

But more than that, this is what we're sure will keep people talking. The 17,673 hardware units was enough for the 360 to beat both the PS2 and PS3! Yes, the 360 is now the second hottest console in Japan (next to the Wii).

Metroid Prime 3 won't have multiplayer features.

What a let down. I know I won't be buying it. They took the time to add those features to the DS version but not the Wii. Even if the single player mode is incredible, once you've done it a few times, the game will just accumulute dust.

Mark Rein: PC games dumb down for Consoles

Submitted by: KnightMare @ 03:16 PM | Tuesday, July 31, 2007 | (url: http://www.comput...)

Epic Games VP Mark Rein recently told CVG that, despite Microsoft's efforts to push the technology, DirectX 10 won't see much in the way of enthusiastic adoption, largely because game developers will "have to dumb the games down for the consoles" making it "less and less economically viable to do the super high-end stuff." Rein expects that Crytek's first person shooter Crysis will represent the zenith of graphical fidelity for years to come. That is, whenever Crysis is actually released.

60GB PS3 No longer available after July - Only the 599$ 80 GB will be available

Submitted by: JodoFett @ 10:14 AM | Friday, July 13, 2007 | (url: http://www.ds.joy...)

In an interesting move Sony has decided to stop producing the 60GB Ps3, which it recently dropped the price of 100$ from 599$ to 499$ and came out with a new 80GB PS3. Sony has announced that they will no longer be making the 60GB version of the Playstation 3 console after July, and so the only version available will be the 80GB version. This comes as interesting news after the price drop, since the new 80GB version will be just the same price that the 60GB version was before.

Nintendo announcing WiiWare

Submitted by: Dranon @ 09:07 AM | Wednesday, June 27, 2007 | (url: http://gizmodo.co...)

If this is true, it sure will be an interesting future for the Wii. Letting people develop games that can be bought for points, like the current VC games.

I'm sure the first few games won't be the greatest will see but, with time, there'll be some good quality games to get.

I checked Wii.com but couldn't find any informations on WiiWare.

PS3 launch fails across the pond

Submitted by: DudeofDeath @ 09:27 AM | Friday, March 23, 2007 | (url: http://kotaku.com...)

Last night was the midnight launch of the PlayStation 3 for our overseas brethren in Europe and Australia, and the crowds that turned out were dismal, to say the least.

Apparently one tenth of the people expected to be there actually showed up, and Sony was left with literal barges full of their newest console, in many locations. To add insult to injury, Microsoft puts a big XBox 360 banner on a ferry passing by one of the big French launch sites...

FFXIII Going Multiplatform?

Submitted by: KillerONE @ 10:32 PM | Thursday, March 22, 2007 | (url: http://www.gamesp...)

Sony Computer Entertainment France president Georges Fornay dropped the bombshell in an interview with French-language newspaper Les Dernires Nouvelles d'Alsace (subscription required). He said, "The development costs of games have exploded, and it has become more difficult to have exclusives, outside of our own games. But we have for launch day [in France] 30 games, including MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Virtua Fighter 5. Moreover, we are expecting 200 games [for the PS3] by the end of 2007...As far as Final Fantasy XIII goes, I can tell you that the exclusivity is in discussion."
