As a very happy owner of a 4850 from the last gen I am obviously very interested in the 5850. Looking at the specs the 5850 look to be even closer to the 5870 then the 4850 was to the 4870. So anyone looking for a midrange part to kick some serious arse this is the ticket.

ATI has started taking the first steps of implementing a legitimate realtime raytracing pipeline into the next generations of their video cards. While their applications currently don't extend to games, this technology represents the biggest video game graphics innovation since introduction of the normal map.

San Francisco (CA) - It appears that the buzz about 3D graphics has been focused on a feature that is not even integrated in todays games - ray-tracing. Intel is beating the RT drum for its upcoming cGPU, which is still 18 months away. But it appears that Intel may be defeated in its own game, as AMDs graphics chips are supporting a 100% ray-traced pipeline, TG Daily learned.

Reviews of 9600GT Surface

There are a bunch of reviews now out on this card. It looks to slot in just behind the 8800GT on performance across the board, but matches it in some tests (such as Crysis). So really its more a case of saving up those few extra dollars and getting the 8800GT. But I am sure more of the 9xxx series will follow that will be worth snaffling.
